Friends It is remiss of me not to report the results of the two votes. | Via Ashford | Via Chatham | Total | Cannon Street | 3 | 4 | 7 | Charing Cross | 1 | 0 | 1 | London Bridge | 2 | 2 | 4 | St Pancras (CTRL) | 1 | 2 | 3 | Victoria | 3 | 4 | 7 | Victoria (CTRL) | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Cannon Street and Victoria accounted for 60% of the votes and London Bridge brought the total up to 77%. Now, of course, this was a small survey but was one in which you were able to actually have a say. I have to say that I was surprised as I anticipated that Charing Cross would come out with more votes - but I stand corrected. The message for both GoVex and the DfT is that on an open vote, with all possible options given, you have almost totally rejected the North London destination as well as a premium priced service. I have to say that your vote also goes against the proposal in the CTRL-DS timetable proposal. To reduce the overcrowding in the Sevenoaks - Tonbridge it would seem that direct services to Cannon Street and Victoria (instead of Charing Cross) would have to be free of premium pricing - at least on season tickets. I understand that Govex monitor this message board and one would hope that they get the message: - If you try to push passengers to services they do not want then the trains will be almost empty compared to the worse overcrowding to be experienced on the traditional routes. Of course it will not solve the Sevenoaks/Tonbridge overcrowding problem either. My thanks to everyone who voted and I sincerely hope that your time to do so has some influence on the final outcome. Yours sincerely O.V.S.Bulleid
