I can't help thinking they have "missed the boat" (or should that be train?).
The proposed amendments have been around for a long time for consultation etc, so it seems a bit late in the day to try and get things changed now. Whether right or wrong, what has been published to happen in December will go ahead. As it says there may need to be some reworking if certain trains prove too crowded, but this isn't going to happen in just over 12 weeks time, no matter what the shouting now.
OCould it be that the local council and paper have only just woken up to what is going to happen? If this is so, it shows that they really don't represent us at all, so much as pay lip service, otherwise they would have been on to it from the start.

It really depends on what consultation really is.
The original consultation demonstrated that the CTRL Chatham Line trains would not give as good return on investment if they travelled beyond Gravesend - but that was ignored.
The SRA published a consultation on the proposed timetable before GoVex gained the franchise to which they received copious responses - and they were largely ignored. GoVex then won the franchise and promptly started to negotiate changes to suit itself - but these were never consulted upon as many have asked for a draft timetable on which to comment - and which eventually arrived 12 months later than originally promised - and once that was seen the holes in it started to come into the open.
For example the fast services (that used to run from Ashford to Charing Cross via Maidstone until faster trains ran via Tonbridge) have been cut because they now go to Cannon Street and are less popular. Cannon Street passengers could change at London Bridge if they ran to Charing Cross as used to be the case. Nobody has listened because it might take passengers from the CTRL services. Sorry but Charing Cross is a popular London terminal and Maidstone will lose its fast trains.
I'm very sorry Gene but on this occasion you are not quite right in your assessment and I suspect more complaints will come to light as time goes on. As I've said before the December timetable is the worse that Kent has ever had to suffer and GoVex should be ashamed of itself for letting its passengers down - both in Kent and now north of London.
Yours sincerely O.V.S.Bulleid

There's an angry letter in Canterbury's Kentish Gazette this week, in response to a lazy piece of journalism talking up the high speed link.
Does anyone know anything about the Brighton Main Line please (horror stories or glowing praise)? I am thinking about moving to Sussex, as it may be quicker to reach my job, near Victoria, from there.

I agree with Shortformed, Maidstone is revolting - who in their right mind would want to go there?! RT (in a slightly flippant mood due to the weekend)
