Southeastern achieves best ever performance
Southeastern has today announced its best ever punctuality performance, capping off a successful summer for transport.
Of the 50,500 trains that ran over the four week period ending on Saturday (15 September), 95.5 percent called at all the booked stations and arrived within 5 minutes of the scheduled arrival time at their destination.
Vince Lucas, service delivery director for Southeastern said: “This is the best train performance ever experienced by Southeastern customers in any four week period since Public Performance Measure (PPM) records began. This reporting period also coincided with the Paralympic Games when we were running extra services and carrying around 100,000 more passengers a day than usual.
“We’ve been working extremely hard to provide the best possible service for our passengers. The south east is a challenging part of the rail network; we run more than 2000 services and carry around 570,000 passengers every weekday. Providing a train service of this size and scale is an enormous task involving a workforce of over 3,800 full-time employees, so we are pleased to see this best ever result. We will continue to work hard to maintain the highest possible standard and find further improvements for our customers,” he said.
Now I bet this has nothing to do that all engineering projects had been suspended and network rail had gangs of men waiting to repair anything at a drop of the hat and they had faults fixed in double time on trains during this period, because you can imagine the bad press they would have got otherwise.
Whats the betting we now slip back to the normal figures in the next period? I wonder if the shout about that!!!
