Yesterday's 17:52 Cannon Street to Broadstairs did not stop at Teynham.
Somewhere between Teynham and Faversham the guard realised and announced that passengers for Teynham would have to go back from Faversham!
Does this sort of thing happen often and what are the consequences?

Does this sort of thing happen often? No, not very.
Assuming (I don't know the full details here) that it was because the driver overlooked the stop, he will be interviewed by his Driver Manager, and probably get some points on his license. Too many points, and drivers are taken off the track, although with incident free driving, points are removed gradually over several years.
Why did it happen? Drivers like the rest of us are human.
