Oh well, working from home today!
A little bit of snow and no trains on the Chatham line!
Shame the SE Trains website was usless again - when I checked this morning my train was on time..!

Weren't they all failing/struggling in the Farningham Road area? Nice to know with over a weeek of advance warning, Notwork Fail haven't managed to get the deicer trains out and about. I wonder how many failed circuits they had this morning? My medium was surprised there was no emergency timetable in place. Once again, a fairly random service being run as and when. How difficult would it have been to run even an hourly service, and perhaps give the travelling public some information on what is happening? The SE Trains website is usless for almost everything! For fairly accurate train information, try looking at: realtime.nationalrail.co.uk/RT

Forgot to say, my medium overheard a concersation that the North Kent line was blocked earlier this morning due to a suicide - apparently somebody hung himself from a bridge? Is anyone able to confirm this, or elaborate more?

Someone hanging from a bridge at Slade Green apparently. Police declared it a scene of crime for a while.

I believe South Eastern website crashed this morning. It was working on the several occasions when I looked at it, not that it had any useful information about what was running, not running, or stuck this morning. As far as I could gather from the National Rail 'live departure boards' site, an early train to Cannon Street stuck on Sole Street Bank for the best part of two hours. A few trains were diverted via Dartford, though with the Charlton route out of action because of the fatality there was a lot of congestion that way. I'm not sure if something else got stuck in the Sittingbourne area, or whether congestion in the Medway Towns held everything up for a couple of hours, with trains queueing back to Faversham. When Sole Street Bank was cleared the next train to try that route (and the first to stop at Meopham and Longfield) also stuck on Sole Street Bank. Chapelwood

The Press Release dated 11th Nov in the "News" section of the SET website boasts of the new online "tool" created "in response to what passengers find useful". I think accurate information might be more useful than a tool - which might be better employed shifting snow. When I looked at the website around midday it was telling me that all lines were running normally. Hmmm. Mind you, it also told me that the page was last updated at 1 a.m on the 1st January 1970! Presumably while getting New Year revellers home. Very perspicatious of SET to anticipate not only the invention of the internet but also the creation of their own company.

Sarah Boundy, the supposed spokesperson, has had a real hammering on LBC this morning. Asked "how many services that left London last night have not yet reached their destination" listeners were assailed with facts and figures about third rail icing problems etc.etc but NO answer. In the end Nick Ferrari "suggested" she go away and find the answer. The answer was "we just don't know"! Enough said. The majority of us quite understand that running services in such severe conditions is difficult. But please don't treat us as a group of iidiots. HOGW

Absolutely! I have tried all possible sources of information, including the network rail app for my iphone, all of them completely useless. Just got back from another trip to my local station, Staplehurst, to be told all trains will only be going to Tonbridge. This combined with the fact that the majority of my train journeys over the last month being either late or cancelled really makes my blood boil, oh and the 12.8 increase next year.
GRRRR!!!!

Chapelwood Thanks to a points failure and 3 broken down Notworkers (can anyone confirm this) on the Sheerness Branch, I got the first rail replacement bus - at 0735! Upon arrival at Sittingbourne, there was a pair of 375s just sitting there - it soon transpired that they had broken down, hence the blockade before Sittingbourne. I couldn't see if there were any trains on Platforms 2 and 3, but from what I gather, there was a broken down train on one of them. Last night on HS1 was a farce, 2 football matches, no trains to Faversham, SET told us to go to Ebbsfleet where they'll be buses - yeah right! Surely due to no trains on the Sheerness Line, I am eligible for a discount on my next season ticket?

Perhaps the next time snow is forecast, people that can't get to work should go down to their local school with a shovel so that the children can still go to lessons.

My medium has heard a rumour that tomorrow there will be no services on the Sheerness branch and the Medway Valley line. Emergency timetable for all other routes will be imposed again, subject to Notwork Rail deicing the conductor rail. Can anyone confirm?
Happy commuting. RT
